They may go by a different team name, but several of our Saegertown High School classmates have made significant contributions to the success of the Cambridge Springs Lady Blue Devils soccer team. Their uniforms may be devils blue, but the heart and pride of the panthers has shown itself many times throughout the season.
The team clinched the Region 3 title with their 1-0 hard-fought victory over rival Maplewood Tigers on Oct. 11. Now they are preparing for a run into playoffs, hoping to build on the success of the fall season. One of the players who has been instrumental in the team’s success is freshman right midfield/striker Maggie Braymer. “This year has been a great season. We have had to make some changes to our lineup, but it has helped us as the season comes to an end,” Braymer said.
Paisley Mangold, midfielder, believes that seeing what needed to be improved game to game was key to success. “We had Iight practices, but we worked on what needed to be improved,” she said.
With a region record of 6-1-1, the Lady Blue Devils are ready for the playoffs. Their first test will be tomorrow night (Oct. 22) against Maplewood. The action starts at 4 p.m. at Fairview High School.
