Members of the Saegertown trap team participated in the first French Creek Valley Fall League along with students from CASH, Fort LeBoeuf, Cambridge Springs, General McLane, Cochranton and Maplewood. The league was open to students from grades 7-12, and each school held a competition every weekend for seven weeks.
According to Coach Darin Ashbaugh, eighty shooters competed each week. The highest averages for the Saegertown shooters were senior Hailey Ruhl for the ladies with 22.5/25 and homeschooler Garrick Jordan with 21.14/25.
Ashbaugh is looking forward to the 2020 Spring League. Student registration will run from February 3 through March 23. Shooting will begin on March 29 and continue through May 17, with the state shoot scheduled for May 30 in Elysburg, Pa. The National Championship will be July 8-12 in Mason, Michigan.
Any student in grades 6-12 interested in joining the team should plan to attend a parent informational meeting in mid-January. Questions can also be directed to Darin Ashbaugh at (814)-337-5265.
