As the dust settles on another successful season for the Lady Panthers volleyball team, the players may move on to their other sports or return to their everyday schedules, but the memories and feelings will stick with them for a lifetime.
The butterflies before coming out in the district championship game. That feeling of utter nirvana as the crowd rushed the floor after coming back and beating Cambridge Springs at home after being down two sets. The emptiness in their stomachs after losing their final match of the season during the first round of states.
While the loss in the D10 final may sting, it does not detract from the success they achieved. They finished the season 12-6 and capped it off with District 10 runner-up medals and a trip to the state playoffs, an impressive season by any measure. “From my ninth grade year, I would have never expected to make it this far. I’m proud of everyone, and I thought the experience was awesome,” senior and middle hitter Carmen Kantz said.
The underclassmen are already looking forward to next season. “We definitely want to go further in the playoffs next year. We need to work on our defense and keep improving,” sophomore Brittany Houck said.
That being said, the girls will be back in the gym working towards the ever-elusive D10 championship, which they will have in their sights next year.
