As the Saegertown girls volleyball season has concluded, several players received recognition. Sophomore outside hitter Brittany Houck was named to the Class 1A first team all-state by the Pennsylvania Coaches Volleyball Association (PCVA).
“I’m very excited to be on all-state as a sophomore, and I can’t wait to see what the next few years have in store,” Houck said. She added that making the all-state roster was unexpected because she wasn’t recognized on the all-district or all-region rosters.
Houck is already looking forward to next year. “This shows me that I am capable and only encourages me to keep improving in the off-season,” Houck said. Houck believes that she needs to keep working hard and believe in herself, and everything will fall into place.
Houck also wanted to thank her dad for staying with her on the journey and always coaching her to get better. “Big thanks to my dad for raising me with a volleyball in my hands and spending countless hours in the gym pushing me to be the best I can be,” Houck said.
