Principal Tom Baker has added a new title to his name. He is now a certified member of Mount Pleasant’s Ski Patrol. The patrol aids fellow skiers and snowboarders by tending to accidents and injuries that occur at Mount Pleasant. All members are trained in outdoor emergency care, CPR, and other related rescue skills. In order to join, Baker completed 45 hours of classroom instruction and passed a written exam. He also completed applied training that included 20 hours on the hill.

The Mount Pleasant Ski Patrol is part of the National Ski Patrol System, a member-driven organization that values service, camaraderie, leadership, and integrity. The National Ski Patrol was founded in 1938, and today more than 30,000 members, who are paid or who volunteer, patrol over 650 locations across the United States and in other countries. Baker will be working as a volunteer. “It’s a way to give back to the community,” Baker said, “and I like to ski.”
