Saegertown students had the opportunity to participate in team-building and physical fitness activities in the gym class with Army recruiters.

Lt. Col. Doug Fullerton from the Cleveland recruiting battalion led the activities. Fullerton and his team educated students and let them know what opportunities are available for those interested in military service.
“It’s important because we have to build the next generation of folks that are going to join the Army, serve in the Army, and defend the nation,” Fullerton said.
Students took part in activities such as tug-of-war, a four-person push-up challenge, a handcuff puzzle and more. These games are designed to improve communication and increase productivity.

Military service is not for everyone, but some students may gravitate toward it.
“For those who don’t want to go to college, we as teachers don’t have the experience to encourage students to go out and join the service,” physical education teacher Pat Bradshaw said. “The recruiters are here to break down that barrier and promote the benefits of joining.”
