At the April 8 PENNCREST school board meeting, Saegertown Assistant Principal Kylene Koper was approved as principal of Cambridge Springs High School. She will officially assume her duties on May 21 with the retirement of Principal Dave Nuhfer. She will be the first female high school principal in the history of the PENNCREST School District.

“I’m excited for the new opportunity,” Koper said. “I’m excited to move up and be the head principal of a school.”

With that excitement, however, comes some sadness for Koper who has been assistant principal at Saegertown for the past four years. “The whole thing is really bittersweet,” she said. “I’m not looking forward to leaving all the faculty, the staff, and the students. I love it here.”

Koper’s last day at Saegertown will be April 14, and she will report to Cambridge Springs campus on April 22 to begin her transition. “I’m thankful I was afforded the opportunity in PENNCREST because I didn’t want to leave the district,” Koper said. “I really want to plant my roots here.”

Principal Tom Baker noted that Koper has made many positive contributions in her current role. “She has been an integral part of the building and everything we’ve done,” Baker said. “Cambridge Springs is getting someone great.” He noted that one thing he would want the Cambridge community to know about Koper is her passion for education and students.

Reflecting on the past four years at Saegertown, Koper noted: “This is a great place with great families and great kids. If you can dream it, you can do it.”
