With defeating Mysterio and getting the girl of his dreams, Peter Parker is almost certain his life is going perfect after The Blip. It changes when the end credit scene of “Spider-Man: Far from Home” reveals that the identity of Spider-Man is no longer a secret and Mysterio wasn’t going to let Parker believe his life is back to normal.
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” chronicles the struggles of Parker dealing with the public humiliation and the overwhelming questions about identity. It will also show that Parker will do everything it takes to reverse his identity being outed.
The trailer begins with questions about what Parker did to Mysterio and how he’s being seen as “#1 Public Enemy.” This creates confusion in the viewer because you watch Parker get beaten and mentally tortured by a man just to be considered the devil in a Spider-Man mask. He seems to have trouble accepting the reality of his life, so he wants to make a new one.
Parker asks Doctor Strange to create a dangerous spell to make the public forget that he is Spider-Man, but he over-thinks the what-ifs and ruins the spell that affected the timeline of the universe.
The malfunctioning spell creates a rift in the universe and alerts even more people to Spider-Man’s identity, including villains. What shakes up the viewers is the return of previous Toby McGuire’s Spider-Man villain, Dr. Octavis. Some fan theories expect other villains, including Green Goblin and Electro to make an appearance. This is important because the return of the villains may also foreshadow the return of Toby McGuire and Andrew Garfield.
The movie opens on Dec. 17.
