On April 12, SPA (Saegertown Pride Alliance) will open its doors once more to all members of the community by hosting a Spring Unity Meet in room 215 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Food and drinks will be provided, and bringing friends outside of the club is highly encouraged. This Unity Meet’s planned activities include trivia, karaoke, dancing, drawing, and a scavenger hunt.
Trivia will be directed toward the history of the LGBTQIA+ community and will be organized by the club’s advisor Mrs.Hetrick. For the scavenger hunt 120 plastic eggs; 30 with raffle tickets for a larger prize and the other 90 with candy or stickers will be hidden in a couple of classrooms for all to find.
All club members contributed to the necessary preparations of the meet activities as well as food. Thirty people attended the February unity meet, and the club is expecting to see a similar amount of attendees, if not more. “I would love to see more people,” SPA member Greyson (he/they) said, “I’m really excited to see everyone!”
Royal Miller (he/him), the club’s president, is looking forward to the unity meet. He finds it a joy to see other people, even adults who support queer students joining.
“I think others can vouch for me on this too, but seeing faculty and staff members of Saegertown High School makes us feel safer since we know there are people we can rely on if we need help.”
SPA meets weekly. Each meeting includes an update, a presentation, and a discussion. You can join by visiting room 215 during the lunch + period or talking to the club’s advisor. The meetings are every Wednesday; all are welcome.
