Note: Scholastic Journalism Week is Feb. 20-24. Each day, we will re-post a story that reflects the daily theme. Today’s theme is balanced reporting. From the JEA website: “As the notion of objectivity continues to evolve in the ever-changing media landscape, being “balanced” in reporting no longer means giving equal weight and space to both sides of an issue. Instead, coverage should be proportional to the prevailing viewpoints, and reporters should take note of their own personal and professional biases.” To learn more about #SJW2023, visit jea.org.

After three weeks of the 2023 NFL playoffs, it is finally time for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles to face off at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ for the Super Bowl LVII champion title.
“I expect the Chiefs to win because they have the NFL MVP winner this year in Patrick Mahomes,” senior Brady Greco said. “However, I’m rooting for the Eagles,”
On the other hand, junior Mikaila Obenrader thinks that the Eagles will defeat the Chiefs.
“I think that the Eagles will win,” Obenrader said. “It seems like they’ve had a really good season so I’m confident they can win.”
This Super Bowl is going to feature two of the most productive offenses that the NFL has seen this season. Both teams are heading into the Super Bowl with a 14-3 record.
“I expect the game to be a close one for sure!” Greco said. “Both teams are similar and equal on both offense and defense.”
Obenrader agrees with Greco that this Super Bowl will be a close scoring game.
“It will probably be a close game,” Obenrader said. “They have similar records so I think that it will be close.”
For many, the Super Bowl is a time to celebrate bonds with friends and family.
“I’m going to be watching the game with my family!” Greco said.
On the other hand, some people unlike Greco will be watching the Super Bowl with others outside of their family.
“We’re having a little party with some of my dads friends.” Obenrader said.
The Super Bowl LVII will be played on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 EST.
