On April 11, there was both a Policy Committee meeting and a PENNCREST School Board work session held in the SHS Auditorium. The Policy Committee meeting started at 5:30 p.m. and the PENNCREST School Board work session started at 7 p.m.
The main two focuses of the Policy Committee meeting were the discussion of Policy 237 on the Acceptable Use of Personally Owned Electronic Devices.
What is Policy 237? This active policy created the standards in which students across the district are allowed to use personally owned electronic devices on school grounds. Students are often reminded of this policy through an infographic posted in each of the PENNCREST Schools.

This policy was adopted into the district on March 11, 2004, and last revised on July 11, 2019.
The board is planning to update this policy to accommodate for the changes in technology since its last revision. The committee asked teachers in the audience for their input while discussing the best way to revise this policy.
“[Referencing the infographic] Get rid of the yellow,” CSHS teacher Mrs. Miller said.
There was a lot of debate on changing the policy, but it is still an ongoing discussion.
“I’m not going to mess with this infographic,” Superintendent Dr. Glasspool said. “I’m going to add some of the language you guys have said…I’ll add something about earbuds and some others. We will tighten up the rights and responsibilities as far as infractions specifically for cell phones.”
