The Academy Theatre is now showing “Young Frankenstein” from Oct. 6 through Oct. 22. You can purchase tickets on the Academy Theatre’s website or at the door.
Despite being a primarily adult cast, Saegertown students Jace Digacomo (sophomore), Grace Worley (junior), and Alyssa Whalen (8th grade) are a part of this electrifying production. Each student is a part of the ensemble and are consistent faces in The Academy Theatre’s productions.
“It’s funny and it’s frightening,” Worley said, “I thought it was a fun show. Audience sizes are good; we had around 200 in the first weekend. Reviews are going well, effects, acting, singing, and dancing are all very good.”
The show features Frederick Frankenstein, grandson of Victor Frankenstein, and his experience inheriting his family’s estate in Transylvania.
“With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced “Eye-gore”), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors,” The Academy Theatre said in their show overview, “‘It’s alive!’ he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather’s. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds.”
You still have three more chances to go see the show. “So far, our audiences have been around an average of 150-200,” Digacomo said. “We’re hoping to bring in larger audiences…so if you can, get out and see Young Frankenstein the next two weekends at 7:30 on Friday and Saturdays and 2 on Sundays. There was one additional performance at 2 on Saturday the 14.”
