On Feb. 4, Taylor Swift walked into the 66 Annual Grammy Award Show with six nominations and walked out with two Grammys and a secret she was holding for two years.
The first win of the night was “Best Pop Vocal Album” for her album released in 2022, “Midnights.” This being the thirteenth Grammy that she has ever won in her career is a very big deal to her.
“This is my thirteenth grammy which is my lucky number,” Swift said. “I don’t know if I’ve ever told you that.”
Swift has always cared deeply for her fans, so giving back to them is nothing. When giving her speech, she mentioned how the voting was a direct reflection of her fans.
“I wanna say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years,” Swift said. “Which is that my brand new album comes out April 19.”
The new album is called “The Torchered Poets Department.” The track list consists of sixteen songs with one bonus song, “Fortnight (feat. Post Malone),” “The Torchered Poets Department,” “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys,” “Down Bad,” “So Long, London,” “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Fresh Out the Slammer,” “Florida!!! (Feat. Florence + The Machine),” “Guilty As Sin?,” “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?,” “I Can Fix Him (No Really, I Can),” “loml,” “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart,” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” “The Alchemy,” “Clara Bow,” and the bonus track, “The Manuscript.”
Later into the event, superstar Celine Dion presented the Album of the Year Award with none other than Swift winning. Yet again she breaks another record, being the first person in grammy history to win four Album of the Year Awards.
When on stage, she thanked “a once in a generation producer,” Jack Antonoff. She also brought her good friend, Lana Del Rey, a music artist that was on the album featured in the song “Snow on the Beach (feat. Lana Del Rey).” Swift then proceeded to thank Lana for all that she’s done.
“I think so many female artists would not be where they are and would not have the inspiration they have if it weren’t for the work that she’s done,” Swift said. “I think she’s a legacy artist, a legend in her prime right now. I’m so lucky to know you and be your friend.”
Swift then brought up how this was an amazing moment in her life, but it wasn’t the best. Her best moments are when she’s creating a music video or rehearsing before her tour. Swift has always been big on thanking others no matter how big or small it is.
Swift having multiple covers and many bonus tracks is nothing new. While Swift was in Melbourne, she released yet another bonus track called “The Bolter” and an alternative cover for the album. On the first night of being in Sydney, she had released yet another alternative cover and a new song, “The Albatross.” On the second night of Swift being in Singapore, she released the final alternative cover and bonus track, “The Black Dog.”
“All I want to do is keep doing this, so thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to do what I love,” Swift said.
