The Key Club is hosting a dance for seventh, eighth, and ninth graders on May 1 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. “The Spring Fling was an idea the Key Club came up with a few years ago and we are continuing it, so while the juniors, seniors, and some sophomores can go to prom, the junior high and the freshman can go to a dance too,” said head of spring fling committee, freshman Kaity Gage. Other members include Ericka Caldwell, Kasey Newhard, Izzy Weier, Eric Kisner, Matt Peters, Emily Callan, and Hannah Smith. Many students plan to attend. “Heck yeah, I’m going to the dance!” said seventh grader Karley Price,”I can’t wait to go.” Most girls have already got their dresses. “The dress is semi-formal,” explained Gage. “I plan to wear nice jeans and a plaid dress shirt,” said ninth grader Tylor Luikhart. Both singles and couples are welcome to come. The price to attend is $3 per person and $5 per couple. “We don’t have a goal of money to raise,” said Key Club advisor, Mrs. Statman. “Key Club is about helping the school, so the dance is just for the junior high to have fun.” Bonus points and incentives are being provided by some teachers for those who attend the dance. The dance DJ will be sophomore Ben Haylett. “I want to take into consideration what the crowd wants to hear and play as many requests as possible,” said Haylett. Katie Berger said,”I’m so excited I’m going to explode!”
