The Lady Panthers have had a rough season due to COVID-19 and the passing of head coach Steve Scott. Despite everything that happened this season, the team made it to this year’s District 10 playoffs with a record of 9-4 (7-3 in the region).

Saegertown opens the playoffs at home at 2 p.m. Saturday against Mercer. The Lady Panthers hope to work off their most recent win, which was 48-21 over Youngsville on Tuesday.

Junior Mollie Przybrowski, who scored 17 points on Tuesday, feels confident in the team.

“I think we’ve really come far from the beginning of the season,” Przybrowski said. “I think we’re really close now, and we’re all ready for this game.”

Przybrowski added that it’s been a special season for the whole team.

“We’ve had our ups and our downs, but we always come together as a team,” she said.

Head coach Amy Braymer is proud of how her team has performed this season. She hopes the girls start the game with intensity and they play together. 

“Executing fundamentals such as boxing out for rebounds, strong passes, ball control and using the clock to our favor will be extremely important in a playoff game,” Braymer said.

Senior Ava Jones is enthusiastic about having an extension on her last year as a Saegertown Panther.

“I’m so excited; first to make it to the playoffs, and second just to be playing at home and in Coach’s gym,” Jones said. “I think as long as we keep our heads, work together, and we play our game at our speed, that we’ll be fine. And I think we can take down Mercer.”

Jones believes they can win Saturday, while Braymer believes they deserve to win.
