Looking for a good adventure movie? You should definitely consider watching David Lean’s 1962 film “Lawrence of Arabia.” In terms of adventure movies, there is perhaps no better example than this epic. 

The story follows T.E. Lawrence (Peter O’Toole), a British Lieutenant in WWI, who is sent to Arabia to act as a diplomat between the Arabs and the British with hopes of uniting in their efforts to defeat the Turks. During his efforts, Lawrence becomes a god-like figure in the eyes of the Arabs and abandons his original mission in order to protect the best interest of the Arabs. 

What follows is a thrilling action movie and a deep exploration of identity. Lawrence is lost in a constant search for purpose and is struggling to find himself. The film excellently balances the serious topics it discusses while also offering plenty of humor and lighthearted fun to act as a break in the action. 

One thing that modern viewers may see as a negative is the intimidating run time. Clocking in at 3 hours and 38 minutes, “Lawrence of Arabia” is certainly no quick watch. However, the fast pacing makes the run time manageable, and there is a built in intermission which acts as a perfect place to pause the film for later viewing. 

Another huge reason to watch “Lawrence of Arabia” is the cinematography. Director of photography Freddie Young filmed one of the best looking movies ever made. From the gorgeous landscapes to the action scenes, every single frame in “Lawrence of Arabia” looks magnificent and it is a marvel of filmmaking.

Overall, if you are looking for an adventure movie to watch, definitely consider watching “Lawrence of Arabia.”
