Saegetown’s maintenance team has been quickly resolving issues that arise around the building. Building maintenance is an on-going process here at Saegertown High School. We have continually seen this with our music room and other areas of our school building.
After the marching band’s final performance on Oct. 28, they discovered mold growing in the music room. Soon afterwards, maintenance was alerted of the situation and quickly resolved the issue.
“The wall in the band room was from wet marching band equipment,” Dr. Howick said.
A similar issue was found in the art room. “The water pipe under the sink leaked and I did not notice right away, it made the plywood under the sink get mold on it,” art teacher Mrs. Granat said. “I let maintenance know and they replaced the pipe and the wood. The issue was quickly resolved.”
Our maintenance team has been quickly fixing problems as they are brought to light. “Any building will have continued maintenance needs due to wear and weathering of materials, so yes, there will always be continued maintenance throughout the schools,” principal Dr. Howick said. “When we are notified of an issue such as a leak, the maintenance staff begins working to repair what they can as fast as possible. However, sometimes we have to wait for parts to come in before fixing the problem or it is a matter of cost or convenience. For example, we do not do major construction during school hours and will try to schedule those during the summer or holidays so that it does not disrupt the school day.”
